Boarding School

(Sunday Poetry Corner) When a girl is sent to a boarding school, when her mother has died and her father is consumed by work, when the outside world lies beyond reach behind high walls, when you only have yourself and then find someone else in the same situation…

That’s the only certainty, the only reality in the world you can cling to in order to keep going…

ALONE TOGETHER

We shared our childhood
and the confinement of school,
with no one but each other—
just the two of us, in silence,
watching life slip by,
unable to grasp it.

We felt more united
against everyone, against the harm,
the misunderstanding, the scorn…
exiled, without a home.

Embraced in the night,
we dreamed of freedom,
of breaking free from this sentence
we endure though innocent.
No one wants us anymore,
yet we keep on living,
and in your arms, I find solace—
the only truth that remains.

A chance encounter will take him far away, on a thrilling adventure full of action and emotion that will change his life... but also the lives of everyone around him…
